Nora Carpenter holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts as well as degrees in English literature and Classical studies. Her debut novel, The Edge of Anything publishes in Spring 2020 from Running Press, and she is spearheading an anthology, Rural Voices, due out from Candlewick in Fall 2020. She is also the author of a picture book, Yoga Frog. Originally from the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia, she’d regularly meet people who, upon learning where she lived, seemed genuinely surprised she spoke proper English grammar. Those attitudes made a big impression, and Nora’s work often explores and challenges the stereotypes she sees at play in the world today.
After several years in DC, Nora currently lives with her husband and young sons in Asheville, North Carolina, where she’s hard at work on her second novel. She’s passionate about social justice and the environment, actively serving on two community boards that champion those values. She also rotates as Head Graduate Assistant for VCFA’s summer residencies for Writing for Children and Young Adults program. You can follow her on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
